Over Memorial Day Weekend, I took a trip to California. I was immediately reminded of how almost exactly 5 years ago, I was boarding a flight to California to learn about “home care.” At the time, I had no intention of working in the business and was just going to learn about the unique details of what home care involves. By the end of that trip, however, something was calling me to senior home care. I couldn’t ignore it.

I wasn’t new to Senior care. Home care was just another piece of the puzzle. My entire family has been dedicated to providing Senior care for decades, dating all the way back to my Great Grampa Farnsworth. I’m a 4th generation native to Mesa, Arizona. My great-grandfather and grandfather built the first 55+ active adult community in the East Valley in the ’50s. Since then, my father has continued building several active adult communities in Mesa. So, you could say it’s in my blood! Before I knew it, Sunland Home Care was up and running – and a dream come true – a dream I never even knew I had or needed.

A few months after Sunland was established, I had a powerful realization. This was it. Senior home care was where I belonged. I fell in love with the seniors and families we serve, the staff, and the challenges.

Most of all, I found what I do best is find ways to ensure seniors are being served so they can live a full and healthy life. And, I get to fulfill my innate need of giving back to the senior community.

In the last 5 years, we have worked hard to create new services that support seniors better than ever. When Sunland began, we offered in-home care only. Now, we offer in-home private duty nursing, physical therapy, and wellness services. These new services mean we can offer resources to just about every in-home care need a senior can have!

Sunland is going strong, because of you, and the senior population and families we serve. We continued, heck, even grew our services during the pandemic and never had to cut jobs. We continuously train our staff in the latest and greatest developments in the home care industry. We have one dedicated team!

We have so much more to do. But for now, I’m just grateful. Grateful for so many people that have helped me fulfill some of my dreams. Someday, I hope I can give back and do the same for you.

Happy 5 years Sunland!

– Traci

P.S. We had a fun time celebrating our 5 year anniversary at Organ Stop Pizza over the weekend. Thank you to everyone who came and supported us! We had a great time dancing to the music, eating good food, and enjoying being together again.
