Shorter visits are scheduled based on caregiver availability and routing. We will discuss timing and preferences before care begins.
Some home care agencies require families to commit to a certain number of hours every week. Sunland does not. You can begin with the amount of care that makes sense for your family and adjust as needs change.
There is no weekly minimum number of hours. Visit length minimums still apply: 2–3 hour visits start at $42/hour, and visits of 4 hours or more start at $36/hour.
To be clear, “no minimums” does not mean we provide one-hour visits.
Every family’s schedule is different. These examples are designed to help you estimate what ongoing care may look like. Final pricing and availability are confirmed before care begins.
Two- and three-hour visits are also available starting at $42/hour,

We are a private-pay home care agency. That means families pay Sunland directly for care. That said, we’ll absolutely help you navigate reimbursement options that may help offset costs:

We can help you understand what your policy may cover and provide the documentation you need for reimbursement. Sunland is not paid by long-term care insurance companies.
If your loved one qualifies, we can guide you on what’s typically needed and provide documentation to support reimbursement. Sunland is not paid by the VA or Aid & Attendance benefits.
Sunland may not be the right fit for same-day emergency coverage or one-time shifts that require immediate staffing.
Availability depends on location, schedule, and caregiver availability.

At our current starting rate of $36/hour for longer shifts, 24 hours of care would start at approximately $864 per day.
Around-the-clock care requires multiple caregivers, so the final cost depends on the care plan, schedule, and caregiver availability. Families can call us and we can help estimate what 24-hour care would look like for their situation.
No. Sunland does not charge a higher rate for nights or weekends. The same visit rates apply regardless of the day of the week or time of day.

There are no additional weekend or nighttime premiums.
Yes. Many Sunland families use long-term care insurance to help reimburse the cost of care. Sunland is a private-pay agency, so families pay Sunland directly and then seek reimbursement through their insurance policy.
We can provide care notes, caregiver time records, signatures, and other documentation an insurance company may require. Coverage and eligibility depend on the individual policy.
Generally, no. Medicare does not pay for ongoing non-medical home care when companionship, homemaking, or personal care is the only help someone needs.
Medicare may cover certain short-term skilled home health services, such as nursing or therapy, when eligibility requirements are met, but that is different from the private-pay non-medical home care provided by Sunland.
Yes. Your first care schedule does not have to be your forever care schedule.
Families can start with a small amount of help and increase care if needs change. If less help is needed later, we can also work with the family to adjust the schedule.
That flexibility is one reason we do not require a weekly-hour minimum.
There is no long-term contract required. We do have a service agreement that explains the care arrangement, rates, policies, and responsibilities, but families are not locked into a long-term commitment.
Schedules can be adjusted or services discontinued according to the terms of the service agreement.
No. Sunland does not charge assessment or startup fees. There is no cost to talk with our team, complete an initial assessment, or create a care plan.
Before care begins, we review the schedule and hourly rate with the family so they know exactly what to expect.
Call us. We regularly hear from families after a fall, hospital stay, sudden change in condition, or when a family caregiver realizes they cannot continue doing everything alone.
In many cases, Sunland can complete an assessment the same day or next day, and care may be able to begin quickly depending on location, care needs, schedule, and caregiver availability.

Sometimes. It depends on the care needs of each person.
If one caregiver can safely support both spouses during the same visit, we will review the situation and determine the appropriate rate. If both individuals require significant hands-on assistance or have more complex care needs, there may be an additional charge.
We will always discuss and approve any rate difference with the family before care begins.
